Terms and Conditions

Version 1.0

Your use of the CERN EOSC Node (“the Node”), including the uploading and downloading of data and the use of computational resources, means that you accept these Terms, together with the Acceptable Use Policy and the User Access Policy.

  1. The CERN Node is a component of the EOSC Federation, offered by CERN as part of its mission to make the results of its work available. It is an entry point: it lets you discover CERN’s research services and data, and it routes you to them. It is not itself a data repository or a compute resource, and it does not accept deposits.
  2. Use of the Node is open to researchers, educators, students and the wider public, for scientific research, education and outreach. The User Access Policy states how access to individual Services is granted, and the Acceptable Use Policy states the rules you accept when you use them.
  3. You are exclusively responsible for the content you produce. Every Service reached through the Node is operated under its own terms of use, licence conditions and privacy notice. Those terms govern your use of that Service and prevail over these Terms in respect of it. This includes what happens to any content you deposit or process, how long it is kept, and under what licence it may be reused. Read the terms of a Service before you rely on it. CERN, including the Node, has no obligation to monitor or enforce compliance with this, nor to investigate or follow up on any related complaints.
  4. Access to the Node and to the Services is provided on an “as-is” basis. Reliance on a Service is only to the extent set out in any applicable service level agreement for that Service; use without such an agreement is at your own risk. The Node is opening in defined rollout stages, and the capabilities available to you are those of the current stage.
  5. Making resources available through the Node does not represent approval or endorsement of that content by CERN. You are responsible for your use of any content you obtain through the Node, and you shall respect the licence conditions attached to it. Obtaining content through the Node transfers no intellectual property rights in it to you.
  6. CERN may, without notice and without any liability, (i) alter, delete or block access to content that it considers inappropriate or insufficiently protected, and (ii) restrict or withdraw access where it considers that use of the Node interferes with its operations, or breaches these Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, or applicable law.
  7. CERN may change these Terms at any time and without notice, other than through posting the updated Terms on this page.

Service terms and privacy notices

Clause 3 above states that each Service keeps its own terms of use, licence conditions and privacy notice. This table states, for each Service, what applies.
